Silent Spaces

Join us for the opening reception of Silent Space, a new body of work by chicago-based artist, Laurie Kennard. This show explores the quiet places and moments that offer us solitude, comfort, and renewal. Through oil and pastel paintings, Laurie captures the interplay of light and shadow in familiar settings—from peaceful gardens and quiet side streets to the subtle bustle of the city.

As Director of Plein Air Painters Chicago and a member of the Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Arts, Laurie brings a deep appreciation for observing the world around her, whether painting outdoors or in the studio. Her work invites us to pause, notice, and reflect on the spaces that make us feel most at home.

We’re proud to feature Laurie’s work at Artful Framer Studios, where we celebrate Chicago’s local artists and the unique perspectives they bring to our community.
